This old Siberian shaman looks as though he has just stepped out of a northern legend, somewhere beyond the last settlement, where the forest stretches endlessly into the snow.
He wears a heavy brown coat decorated with striking red-and-white traditional patterns, with long red panels falling from the sides and a broad woven belt around his waist. His wild grey hair and fur-covered headdress, crowned with large antlers, give him the unmistakable presence of someone who belongs to the wilderness rather than the village. In one hand he carries a dark ritual-looking stick, while a round hand drum hangs at his side.
The antlers, drum, fur, and layered clothing all evoke imagery associated with Siberian shamanic traditions. In several Siberian traditions, reindeer imagery and antlers were closely connected with shamanic clothing and spirit helpers, while the drum was an important ritual instrument.
Entirely handmade and created as a one-of-a-kind art doll, he combines folklore-inspired clothing, miniature accessories, expressive character, and the atmosphere of the remote northern wilderness into a tiny storyteller who seems to have arrived from another world.
