A handmade, one-of-a-kind miniature Baba Yaga witch art doll with a squinting, wrinkled face, an antique-style key on a cord and a natural-fiber broom.
Sculpted from polymer clay and painted with acrylics, this Slavic folklore witch has ginger hair under a coarse brown headscarf. She wears a cream blouse with puffed sleeves, a red skirt trimmed with folk-pattern braid, and an apron of coarse brown fabric with cream stitching along the edges. Brown shoes, a hunched posture and a sideways glance complete the character.
In one hand she holds a broom of natural fibers, bound with black thread to a wooden twig. The key on a cord over the apron is what sets her apart from the other Baba Yaga figurines in the collection.
This witch is a mix of folklore mystery, cunning and cozy warmth. She is not wicked or frightening, but a charismatic, strong-willed keeper of ancient secrets, with a lively mind, irony and a wise, teasing look.
